The August 1, 2018 meeting of the Downtown Neighborhoods Association was scheduled to be held at Lew Wallace School, pursuant to prior approval. There was no quorum present at 6:45 p.m. and no quorum for the rest of the evening. So no votes could be taken

There was a consensus to proceed with those parts of the agenda that required no action.

Sergeant Peter Silva (, 377-6736) gave the DNA statistics for July. He described the new administration’s “problem-oriented” plan. There will probably be more bicycle patrols. The main crime reported in DNA is auto burglary, many of which are in tourists’ vehicles. Zach Wesley is the new Valley area commander.

Ricardo Guillermo presented plans for developing the former Escuela del Sol site, the entire north side of the 1300 block of Mountain Road. (247-1585, Sidney Mallard, the property owner, also spoke. (, 206-7939). They are requesting a zone change from Residential Townhouse to Mixed Use, Light. A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 8:30 a.m. in the hearing room at 600 Second NW. The existing building will remain. Two additional structures are proposed: one will be a commercial building with spaces for three small businesses; the other is proposed to be two residential townhomes in one building. Ricardo showed a site plan and elevations. There were no objections expressed.

Holly reviewed plans for this annual event, scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mary Fox Park. There will be musicians from Amy Biehl High School. Board members volunteered for several tasks. Holly said that we need a few ice chests.
