BernCo Assessor Giddings Encourages Property Owners to Review Their Notices of Value

The Bernalillo County Assessor’s Office mailed out 264,987 Real Property 2018 Notices of Value (NOV) including manufactured homes to all property owners beginning March 29th informing them of their net taxable value of their property as of January 1st. These assessments will be a factor in determining the 2018 property tax bills the Bernalillo County Treasurer’s Office will mail in November of this year. The 2018 Notices of Value for business personal property and livestock will be sent out to property owners on May 1st.

If a property owner disagrees with the county Assessor’s valuation on the property they can protest, they have until Monday, April 30th at 5pm to file a protest form. A protest form (https://www.bernco.gov/assessor/protest-process.aspx) can be filed online on the assessor’s website at www.bernco.gov/assessor, or in person at our office located at 501 Tijeras Ave. NW.

Property owners have until Monday, April 30th to apply for property tax exemptions that could help lower their property tax bill in November. These exemptions include head of family, veterans and 100 percent disabled veterans. Applications for these exemptions can bedownloaded from the assessor’s website (https://www.bernco.gov/assessor/excemptions-applications-other.aspx) or picked up in person.
