Halloween Safety Tips – All Treats and No Tricks!

Halloween is a great holiday, with lots of costumes, candy and fun. Here are a few safety suggestions to keep the tricks at bay and ensure only treats:

  • All children trick-or-treating should be accompanied by a responsible adult
  • Costumes should be bright and visible, and not hinder vision
  • Treats should not be eaten before being inspected by parents
  • Trick or treating should be enjoyed in well-lit neighborhoods and at houses that are lit up
  • Adults accompanying trick-or-treaters should carry a flashlight or some type of portable light, as well as a cellular phone
  • Drivers should be on the lookout for costumed trick-or-treaters and use caution
  • If you are passing out treats, ensure your home is well-lit and that the path to your door is clear
  • Be wary of anyone asking for money
  • Don’t trick-or-treat alone and always try to go with a group
  • If you see anything suspicious, call the police immediately
