  • Exact time and agenda to be announced at the public meeting and on our website.  This will be about 6 hours with multiple stops both on and off Kirtland Air Force Base.   Transportation will be provided.

Work Plan Approval:

  • NMED approved KAFB’s Pilot Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) Shutdown Test Work Plan to conduct rebound and respiration testing in soil.  Data from the testing will be used to identify soil-vapor hotspots for more robust vacuum extraction, and to identify areas that are suitable for transitioning from SVE to bioventing.  More information is available on the NMED project website:

Well Drilling Update:

  • Nine of the 16 new monitoring wells to fill data gaps in the northeast area of the EDB plume have been drilled, and two drill rigs continue to operate.  Drilling to install the first of up to 8 extraction wells should begin in March.  We wish to thank all the neighborhoods in the investigation area for putting up with the temporary roadblocks and noise from the drill rigs.

Best Regards,
