— Special event is a family fundraiser for The Storehouse —

Bernalillo County – Registration is now open for the first-ever BernCo Sugar Skull Fun Run, a special event sponsored by County Commissioner Art De La Cruz to support The Storehouse, New Mexico’s largest food pantry.

This family-friendly event is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 2, on Dia de los Muertos, from 9-11 a.m. The 2.5k and 5k fun runs will begin at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and follow the Bosque Trail south to Rio Bravo Boulevard.

The race entry fee is $15 per person and special edition t-shirts are $15 each. The proceeds will benefit The Storehouse, New Mexico’s largest food pantry.

Registration is available online at and on race day at the event.

“Residents from all across Bernalillo County are invited to join in and support this fundraising effort for The Storehouse,” says Commissioner Art De La Cruz. “Children along with their families can participate in the fun runs and activities that celebrate Dia de los Muertos, as well as local traditions and cultures that make-up our unique community while also helping those in need.”

Sugar Skull Fun Run activities will include:

·2.5k and 5k Fun Runs begin at 9 a.m.

·Children will receive participation certificates and goodie bags

·Face painting by Working Classroom (by donation)

·Costume contests for children (stroller – 12 years old) and pets

§ Kids – Twenty place ribbons in each of the first, second and third place categories

§ Pets – First through sixth places

·Each race entry gets a FREE raffle ticket in the drawings for awesome prizes
