Hello Neighbors,

Legislation of Interest

At our next meeting on Wednesday, September 3, Council will act on R-13-240 (Sanchez), which reaffirms that improvements in the Bosque should be consistent with the Middle Rio Grande Ecosystem Bosque Biological Management Plan, the Bosque Action Plan, and the Middle Rio Grande-Albuquerque Reach Watershed Restoration Action Strategy.
Next week I am introducing R-14-105, identifying important principles of law enforcement for the City of Albuquerque. This bill will be held over for action at the next meeting on Monday, September 15.
Two pieces of legislation addressing regulation for non-bank small lending businesses will be introduced on Wednesday. O-14-22 amends the City’s Zoning Code to require a minimum separation of 1500 ft. between small lending businesses. This ordinance will be referred to the EPC. R-14-102, which I am co-sponsoring with Councilor Diane Gibson, supports interest and fee caps on non-bank lending institutions in New Mexico. This resolution will be heard by Council’s FGO Committee on Monday, September 8.
