Commissioner Maggie Hart Stebbins will unveil the county’s first Little Free Library at Talin World Market on Sunday, July 27.

Bernalillo County and the nonprofit literacy group Reading Works held a design competition for five little free libraries, earlier this year.

Little free libraries are small structures, containing 20-30 books, that are located throughout a community. They provide free and easy access to books that anyone can take at any time.

By the end of this summer, there will be a Little Free Library installed in each of the county’s five commission districts.

Students from UNM’s School of Architecture & Planning participated in the design competition, and the school’s Research in Advance Fabrication Technology is building the little library structures.
