-Route 66 Arts Alliance Art show for all Arts Alliance artists.

This Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 10 am-3 pm. Location: the “Weather King” Portable Building Lot at the corner of Hwy 344 and 333 (Route 66) in Edgewood across from Smith’s.

The portable buildings are available to the artists, first come, first serve. Please clean up the buildings when leaving so we will be welcomed back.

This sign will be posted at this and all Route 66 Arts Alliance events.

In order to participate in these events, you need to be a member of the Route 66 Arts Alliance.

Membership is $25/year. Sherry Abraham will be on-site to sign up new members. Checks or cash, no cards.

Membership dues helps us become a 501-c-3 non-profit, pays for signs, insurance and advertising.

-New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division is collecting 4,000 license plates for our use on a RETRO Parade float and License Plate billboard for photo opportunities. Thank you Sen. Sue Wilson-Beffort, Mark Williams and Raul Alvarez.

-‘Murals along the Mother Road’ Ceremony; Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2 PM at Lisa’s Truck Stop. Jumbo sized Checks from the New Mexico MainStreet Program will be presented to the five muralists who painted their murals along the Mother Road in Moriarty.

-The World Monument Fund has invited RETRO representatives to attend “The Road Ahead-A Strategic Roundtable”, November 20-21 in Anaheim, CA.

The roundtable aims to leverage new opportunities and innovative partnerships in heritage tourism and historic preservation along the Mother Road.

Upon return we will share with RETRO members what we have learned and what we can incorporate into our agenda to enhance the economic development along the Central New Mexico Route 66 Corridor.


-The East Mountain Historical Society; has bestowed an ‘Award of Recognition’ to RETRO in recognition of efforts this past year.

“Because of RETRO’s work, two historic sites along Route 66 are receiving positive attention, furthering public appreciation of history, and helping to create “an enriching and authentic visitor experience” along Historic Route 66.”
