The City of Albuquerque is excited to announce that there will be guided tours of the historic Rail Yards site on National Train Day, Saturday, May 11, 2013! Pre-registration for tours is required. For safety reasons, a maximum of 20 people will be allowed on each tour. There will be no exceptions made.

Tours will begin at 10 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM, and 3:30 PM.

Tickets for tours are available through HoldMyTicket.com, an Albuquerque-based ticketing service.

For National Train Day only, a nominal ticket price of $0.50 (plus a required $1.50 processing fee for a total ticket price of $2.00) is being charged.

Things to know before registering:

1. Must be 12 years of age or older.

2. Tours are anticipated to last around 90 minutes.

3. The Rail Yards site includes uneven surfaces, broken glass and other potential hazards and is not wheelchair accessible in most places.

Tour Day Information:

1. Parking and registration will be in the vacant lot on 2nd Street between Santa Fe and Pacific (1001 Second Street SW). Do not park on the site as there will be other activities taking place on the site. The tour will depart from 1001 Second Street SW.

2. Close-toed shoes required.

3. Hard hats will be provided and are required to be worn for the duration of the tour. You may want to consider bringing a bandanna to wear.

4. We recommend that you bring a bottle of water, a hat, sunglasses, and apply sunscreen.

5. Bathroom facilities are very limited at the site and will not be accessible during the tour. We encourage you to plan accordingly.

6. Photography will be allowed, but groups will be required to stay together. Professional photographers are encouraged to contact the property manager (Build New Mexico – 268-1200) to set up a separate time for special photography sessions.

7. Do not pick up and/ or remove anything from the site.

This day of tours is designed to be a kick-off event for regular monthly tours, if you aren’t able to join us on Train Day, we look forward to seeing you on a future tour!
