Free tour part of Open Space Backyard Farming Series

Bernalillo County – Bernalillo County’s Open Space Program is proud to present a free tour of the historic Gutierrez-Hubbell House and farm this Saturday from 9 a.m.- noon.

The tour is part of the county’s Backyard Farming Series and features information about caring for heirloom fruit trees and grapevines, drip and flood irrigation, year-round growing techniques and planting for wildlife.

The Gutierrez-Hubbell House sits on 10 acres of farmland that is managed by the Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension Service.

Farm Manager Gabriel Bauman-Baker is actively engaged in modeling a variety of sustainable and innovative backyard farming practices throughout the property.

Saturday’s program also covers the Food for People Initiative, where fresh produce is donated to those in need. Participants can also learn how to participate in this effort.
