Special treat for mom

Tour del Bosque is an adventure-filled event that brings the whole family outdoors. Tour del Bosque will span two days over the course of Mother’s Day weekend, May 11 and 12. There will be mountain bike racing, bosque trail bike riding and walking.

This is the inaugural year for this countywide event. It is a FREE event!

Activities are scheduled across the county to reacquaint residents with the wonderful recreational facilities and open spaces that exist within Bernalillo County.

Friday, May 10, will be the official ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Bosque Trail to celebrate recent improvements made to the trail. Five miles of bike trail was completely reconstructed and connections to nearby facilities were improved. Now it is a smooth ten-mile stretch from Rio Bravo Boulevard north to Alameda Boulevard.

On Saturday, May 11, the action gets going on the backside of the mountain. It is the Oak Flats Mountain Bike Race and it is happening in Tijeras. The bike trails range from 1.6 miles for children to 18 and 24 miles for adult women and men. There are non-competitive and competitive events.

Go to, to register.

Down in the North Valley, also taking place on Saturday, May 11, there will be a bike riding clinic underway at the North Valley Bike Park. A team of BMX riders will be on-site demonstrating their skills and offering instruction to all riders on trail and riding technique.

Simultaneously, in the South Valley, a bike rodeo and bike swap will be taking place at the new Gateway Park located on the corner of Bridge Boulevard and Isleta Boulevard.

There, younger participants will learn proper bike safety techniques and improve their bike riding skills. The bike swap is where bike enthusiasts will be able to find or sell all things bike.

All day on Sunday, May 12, all along the Bosque Trail, residents can bike, walk or run.

During the Tour del Bosque, every five miles there will be a county booth set up that will have water supplies, music and activities for all participants.

Because festivities are taking place on Mother’s Day, every mom will be treated extra special during this event.

All residents are encouraged to come out and spend a day or both days in the great outdoors here in Bernalillo County — on the trails of the Tour del Bosque.

Want a limited quantity inaugural cinch sack, sign-up now at Tour del Bosque Registration. Then you can claim your reserved cinch sack during registration packet pick-up happening on Friday, May 10, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Embassy Suites located at 1000 Woodward Place Albuquerque.

Hope to see you on the Bosque Trail!
