Please join Petroglyph National Monument and The Albuquerque Astronomical Society (TAAS) for another solar observation event marking the transition from one season to another. For all of human history people around the world have observed the motion of sunrises and sunsets moving from solstice to equinox to solstice to help plan their lives around seasonal change. Now we can do this same observation but with the addition of safe devices such as solar scopes that allow us to directly and safely view and study the sun in detail never before possible.

From 11AM to 1PM MST, Petroglyph National Monument and TAAS will have both white light filtered, single stack, and double stacked hydrogen-alpha filtered solar scopes for viewing the sun safely. There will also be a kid’s constellation program inside at noon, as well as the magnetic sun hands on activities. No fees are associated with this program, and no reservations are required. This event is weather contingent, but current forecast for Saturday is mostly sunny. For more information please call 505-899-0205 x.338.
