Enjoy Outdoor Adventures at Bachechi Open Space

Bernalillo County – Families are encouraged to take advantage of a free, two-part outdoor workshop at Bachechi Open Space beginning this Saturday.

The county’s Open Space program and the New Mexico Wonder of Learning Collaborative are sponsoring the Families Exploring the Wonders of Nature project, which encourages families to get outside and take advantage of Bernalillo County’s outstanding Open Space and outdoor recreation options.

The workshops are scheduled for two Saturdays and participants must sign up for both. The first workshop is limited to 25 adults and is scheduled for this Saturday, Dec. 1, at 9 a.m. The second workshop is for the entire family on March 2, 2013, at 9 a.m.

This first workshop aims to give parents and guardians a stronger foundation for outdoor education and ways to better connect children to outdoor learning.

“Bernalillo County is proud to offer another outstanding outdoor learning opportunity at Bachechi Open Space,” Parks and Recreation Director Ed Chismar says. “We’re lucky to have such great Open Spaces in Bernalillo County, and this is a great way to encourage health and wellness for the whole family.”
