COUNTY CLERK AND ASSESSOR REMIND RESIDENTS THAT DOCUMENTS ARE EASILY ACCESSIBLE

“We have recently been advised by property owners that they are receiving a ‘Deed Retrieval Services’ document in the mail that urges residents to obtain a Grant Deed and Property Profile for their properties for a processing fee of $87.00,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. “The Clerk’s Office routinely records these types of documents and they can easily be obtained at the Clerk’s Office for a nominal fee. Additional property information can be obtained through the Assessor.”

The document is issued by a company called Record Retrieval and lists a series of information about the property.

“Most of the information we obtain for our appraisals, such as land size, building size and values, are maintained by the Assessor’s Office and residents can do an on-line property search at www.bernco.gov to acquire information at no cost,” says Assessor Karen Montoya.

“It’s a great idea to have copies of this information with your files, and many already do, however, I want to remind residents that a copy of their deed can be purchased by going on-line or visiting our office at One Civic Plaza for a charge of $1.00 per page,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver.
