The Parade begins at Explora (18th and Mountain) at 11am and continues to the Harwood Art Center (7th and Mountain.) The Fiesta will begin at noon and run until 3pm at the Harwood.

The parade and fiesta are an outgrowth of the Sawmill/Wells Park Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA) Plan. Local residents expressed the desire for an annual event that celebrates the area’s history and cultural diversity; builds community, and spreads the word about life-long learning opportunities and resources.

The parade is a home-grown event that features many local groups, from school children and neighborhood artists, to area institutions and the fire department. Performance groups, community associations, floats, banners and costumes all come together to reflect the heritage, culture and identity of the Sawmill and Wells Park neighborhoods.

The Fiesta at the Harwood Art Center features music, dancing, entertainment, food, arts & crafts vendors and community organizations. The fiesta seeks to build community by bringing residents together to celebrate. It also strives to build local capacity by bringing organizations into direct contact with the populations they wish to serve.

The Carnuel Road Parade Fiesta is at once a neighborhood celebration and community development initiative planned by the Education Committee for the Sawmill/Wells Park MRA. This is a festive, celebratory, community-building event, so we hope to see you there! If you have an interest in participating in the event as a parade participant, vendor or volunteer, please contact Wade Patterson at the Harwood Art Center – 242-6367 ext. 119 or wade@harwoodartcenter.org
