Maria Mack and her family were grief stricken after her brother Jimmy ran away from their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tired of the dark gloom at home, Maria asked her mother for a mere fifty cents to see the local circus. Her mother’s rejection sends Maria on a quest to find her brother Jimmy. Maria follows the spells of a gypsy into a book of fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Here she learns the true power of brothers and sisters from a cast of familiar but somewhat altered characters and finds her own personal story.
